An escutcheon is used to provide a close fit between a paracentric cylinder and the keyhole. It also serves to protect the finish around the keyhole from chipping. The single wing escutcheon allows key to be extracted in only one position. A double wing escutcheon allows the key to be removed in two positions.

The Cylinder Shield mounts over the paracentric cylinder on exterior doors to protect the keyhole from dirt, snow and other foreign elements.
